Kingfishers, mandatory for every wildlife photographer… In the past I had made several photos I was happy with. I heard from a friend that a pair of kingfisher was preparing for breeding in his garden. Instantly I knew this would give me a lot of possibilities… Not just to make the ‘standard’ photos. But also to experiment. Morning light, evening light, with prey, fishing, etc. etc.

One of the main projects was to make a photo of a diving kingfisher. I spoke about it in my vlogs before I even had the slightest clue where to even begin with it. It was not easy, but in the end I got several photos I am really happy with. They are included below.

If you haven’t already, do check out the series on my YouTube channel. Especially the slow motion video and the diving kingfisher episodes are well worth watching. The playlist with all episodes can be found here.
